Jesus is the Light of the world! He's alive today & forevermore! Yesterday, today & forever, Jesus remains the same! If you claim to love Jesus, then you will walk in His Light! To do this means you obey His Commandments, exercise restraint/self control & refrain from sin. You have to learn to resist the devil so he will flee from you! Walking in the light involves embracing the Truth; for you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free!!!
If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:6-8 NIV
If you are walking in the Light, then you will desire and have fellowship with believers likewise. So, if you are a true believer, walk on, walk on in the Light; & as long as you do, you will never walk alone (remember Liverpool Football Club)!!!
Jesus answered, "Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any one walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if any one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him." John 11:9-10 RSV
Is it not better to do your work/walking in the day time when there's natural light illuminating everything & to avoid stumbling? The chances are that if you leave everything to do until it's dark, it's very uncomfortable & there are increased chances of stumbling! Make hay whilst the sun shines (heart that before)?!!
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, 'Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.' So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. Luke 2:15-18 (NIVUK)
When the shepherds got the Good News, they didn't keep it to themselves although they were not ministers of the Gospel or Word of God! Have you heard the Good News? What are you doing with or about it? It is better to give than to receive according to the Word of the Living God! So, you receive the Word of God; that is very good! But remember that it is better to share the Word of God than to just receive & sit down on it day in day out! Be a Gospel proclaimer! Do not just simply be a receiver of the Gospel, be a giver!!!
(7) The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; (8) but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (9) "Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; (10) and He repays those who hate Him to their face, to destroy them. He will not be slack with him who hates Him; He will repay him to his face. (11) Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them. Deuteronomy 7:7-11
God is a Covenant-keeping God! For His Love of us even according to promises made to our forefathers, God Does Wonders in our lives! Not because we are better than other people; but rather because of His Love are we enjoying these Blessings! Should we not declare His Words to the next generation & sing His praises accordingly? We should celebrate our God! I will celebrate You O God & testify to the whole world that You are GOOD & Your Mercies endure forevermore!!!
