The Lord Subjects those He Loves to rigorous testings with trials and temptations opportunities to refine them and make them better. Every branch that bears good fruits will be pruned but branches that bear bad fruits or nothing at all will be cut off. This is all God. God is God but not a goody-goody God as presented by today's preachers! God is a disciplinarian not a God that doesn't care about His children. Take heed!!!
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask Him. Matthew 6:7,8 KJV
Prayer is not a matter for "show" to show everyone how born again you are! Let your faith show in your thinking, talking and actions! Trust that God Knows what you need even before you ask; when you ask, be sincere in faith and not ridiculously trying to "prove" to other people that you are a Christian!!!
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; You will cry, and He will say, "Here I am.' If you remove the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger and speaking wicked- ness, and if you give yourself to the hungry And satisfy the desire of the afflicted, Then your light will rise in darkness And your gloom will become like midday
Isaiah 58:9,10 NASB
If you stop reckless behaviour, coarse joking and general wickedness and do the above, then the Lord Will Answer you when you call! If God's Love was unconditional as "they" keep teaching you, then you need do nothing to be heard; it would be automatic! God is very specific on Blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience up till today not just during the Old Testament! If you honour God and obey Him, you prove your love for Him and you have a sure reward; as sure as when you believe in Jesus Christ who died for you even according to John 3:16-18!!!
(11) Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. Psalm 34:11
Come you "children"! If you cannot accept the Word of God as little children, you have no place in the Kingdom of Heaven! No wonder many cannot learn and obey; because you only obey what you have learnt to be the Truth! Many cannot humble themselves as little children do because they think they're adult and are not "stupid" so they brag about what they know and can't stand to be cheated or seen as foolish. Yet, this very attitude proves their stupidity and foolishness!!!
