The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
Matthew 23:11,12 NIV
Contrary to man's futile thinking, greatness is God-Given, not man-made. Man can ubiquitously promote mankind even to positions of power and authority; and God would sometimes allow this to happen because of the heart of man. However, greatness cannot be manipulated into mankind; no, that is God-Given! Those who exalt themselves in pride and arrogance will be humbled; God exalts those who humble themselves! Stop wasting your time, energy and life on what is absolutely fruitless!!!
LORD, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear: To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
Psalm 10:17,18 KJV
God does not despise the cry of the genuinely afflicted, oppressed, impoverished, widowers, orphans, destitute, sick etc. (the humble and or humbled readily get God's attention)! He Judges in their favour; that mankind may oppress no more! But does anyone care? Is anyone listening? Take heed; for God Will Act in due season!!!
You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:5-7 NASB
The recommendation for young men is to humble themselves under the Mighty Hand of God; and subject themselves to their elders (of which parents are chief of course)! Disrespect, disobedience, disdain, etc. for parents is largely borne out of rebellion, fueled by pride and arrogance. Remember God; He opposes the proud and gives grace to the humble! God rewards pride and (un)faithfulness in all that we think, speak or do; He rewards for sure!!!
Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:12-17 NKJV
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then you must consider yourself as the "elect" of God. There is a standard for you to follow as per living your life anew; forsaking the old way of life and submitting your mind and all for transformation by the Holy Spirit. This is so as to live a new life in Jesus Christ! In so doing, the only thing that matters is faith that works through love; allowing the Word of God to dwell richly inside of you and the Holy Spirit to drive you in all ways! Encourage each other with the Word of God as in psalms, hymns, spiritual songs etc.; doing everything in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, with thanksgiving!!!
1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. A time to keep, And a time to throw away; Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
May God give us who believe the wisdom to understand godly times and seasons; so as to act wisely and godly at every given time and opportunity. This would help us maximise our potentials as believers in Christ Jesus. Whatever you do, seek for wisdom; because there is a time for everything!!!
