WHOSOEVER DENIES ME

Matthew 10:32-33. “Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in heaven, But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before My Father which is in heaven.”

These are words of responsibility. They are words that echo down through the canyons of time, never to be changed and never to be abrogated. After the final moment of earthly life, there is no more opportunity to turn and acknowledge Christ. To confess is to agree with what God says. It is to openly acknowledge what you believe to be true. Romans 3:4 says, “Let God be true; and every man a liar.” What God says is truth. It never changes. If we, in our arrogance, decide we don’t believe what God says; if we choose our own preferences for achieving a happy after-life, then we are denying God.

He is left with no choice. If we acknowledge Jesus Christ openly before God, then Jesus Christ can and will openly confess us before God. If we deny Him, then He must deny us before God.

I don’t think we take this kind of passage seriously enough. This is a matter of your eternity, and once you draw that final breath, there will be NO “wait I minute, I think I want to change my mind.”

If you are waiting for something to convince you, please just look at the manger in Bethlehem where the King of Kings chose to make His earthly entrance. Look at the cross on Calvary and see the Saviour Who purchased your pardon with His own blood. Look at the empty tomb and realize that because He lives, we can live also.

That’s the love of God. Nothing has ever topped it, and nothing ever will.
