Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning. "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:9,10 NIV
The fear of God is what enables a righteous and wise man to submit to instruction, teaching, rebukes and admonition; for which reason, they get even wiser and increase in learning. If you want to be wise and righteous or claim to be, you must be likewise in attitude! Lord, Help me to submit to Your Authority and sound instruction and teaching that will improve my lot in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
A wise son accepts his father's discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. Proverbs 13:1 NASB
A son who is wise accepts and submits to his father's discipline, not to talk of God's! However, a scoffer does not listen to rebuke! Which are you? How do you respond to discipline (your father's or even God's)! Do you not know that it is written: "A father disciplines a son that he loves!" Help me o Lord to accept discipline for my life in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
"and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously" 1 Peter 2:23 NASB
Jesus Christ led an exemplary life in every way including in the area of His response to discipline, suffering, the whole lot! Why? He, in fleshly man, entrusted Himself to the Just Judge, who judges righteously; who is the Lord God Almighty! What a great exemplary humility. The Great Judge submits himself; the One to whom all must and will submit, submits Himself! Hmmmm! O what a story! Thank You o Lord for Teaching us submission and humility; Help us to follow Your example in all things in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. Proverbs 15:1,2 KJV
The humble introduce peace into a volatile situation by speaking soft words and answers in response to the harsher words spoken in wrath by other parties! However, grievous words only fuel the fire of anger in such situations! The humble wise ones apply their knowledge rightly in every situation they're involved in; however, the foolish pour out folly! Lord Teach and Help us to be wise and humble in life's situations; only by Your Strength o Lord. In Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. 'By what authority are you doing these things?' they asked. 'And who gave you this authority?'
Matthew 21:23 (NIVUK)
When the Power of God manifests through anybody; or when in authority of any type, your (or that) power authority will be questioned, tested and challenged! If the authority and power of the Holy One of Israel was tested, how do you not expect that yours will likewise?! Lord, Help me to be wise in authority and in the use of power in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
(11) Now when Peter had come to Antioch, I withstood him to his face, because he was to be blamed; (12) for before certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. (13) And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. (14) But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter before them all, "If you, being a Jew, live in the manner of Gentiles and not as the Jews, why do you compel Gentiles to live as Jews?
Galatians 2:11-14
When for example as a Christian, you relate with non-Christians; but when in the presence of other Christians, you "pretend" that you do not, that is hypocrisy! This was what the Apostle Paul challenged, rebuked and admonished his brother Apostle Peter for! Was he justified or not; especially in public? Half a word is enough for the wise! O Lord, forgive our hypocrisy and lead us aright in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
