8 Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me once more: “Go, take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.” 9 So I went to the angel and asked him to give me the little scroll. He said to me, “Take it and eat it. It will turn your stomach sour, but ‘in your mouth it will be as sweet as honey.’[a]” 10 I took the little scroll from the angel’s hand and ate it. It tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it, my stomach turned sour. 11 Then I was told, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages and kings.” Revelations 10:8-11 NIV
The psalmist said the Word of God is sweeter than the honeycomb; and we read in the Word of God that the Scroll above (which I believe to be the Word of God) turns the stomach sour. This is largely because the Word of God, when taken in, if taken in, brings about change. Change is hardly ever a pleasant experience. That unpleasantness is the souring up of the stomach experienced in letting the Word of God "Touch" us to create the change we need. Lord, Help us to yield to your Word; that change may come to us in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
On that day the Book of Moses was read aloud in the hearing of the people and there it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever be admitted into the assembly of God, 2 because they had not met the Israelites with food and water but had hired Balaam to call a curse down on them. (Our God, however, turned the curse into a blessing.) 3 When the people heard this law, they excluded from Israel all who were of foreign descent. Nehemiah 13:1-3
Whom the Lord has Blessed, no one can curse! I am of the stock of Abraham; I am his seed. The Blessings of Abraham are active in my life and experience! All who bless me shall be blessed and those who curse me shall be cursed. This is the Word of the Lord to me. The Rhema of God! I receive and accept Your Word of Blessing over my Lord o Lord and reject anything contrary from any quarters in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
24 How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. 25 There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number living things both large and small. 26 There the ships go to and fro, and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there. 27 All creatures look to you to give them their food at the proper time. 28 When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things. 29 When you hide your face, they are terrified; when you take away their breath, they die and return to the dust. 30 When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground. Psalm 104:24-35 (NIV)
It is good to tell out the Goodness and the Greatness of the Lord as rendered above! Then the awe of God can fall on us and we can fully and truly appreciate the handiwork of the Lord upon our lives and experience. The Lord Gives and Takes away; Blessed be His Glorious Name. May the Lord not hide His Face from us and that He Sends us His Spirit increasingly day by day in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.
Matthew 21:32 (NIVUK)
Instead of humbling ourselves to simply believe the Word of God, we arrogantly intellectualise everything! However, the Word of God is best received by faith not by questioning and rationalising everything intellectually! Knowledge puffs up but love builds up! The people we despise and do not expect to receive the Word of God for whatever reason, are those that actually end up believing faithfully because they humble themselves and appreciate the Word of God more! May God Grant us the wisdom to humble ourselves to receive the Word of God and to obey in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
