Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before stumbling.
It is better to be humble in spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud. Proverbs 16:18,19 NASB
Pride and arrogance always end in stumbling and destruction. Why engage in what does not profit? Is it not better to embrace profitable humility which begets much grace? Help me to be humble o Lord; I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Proverbs 8:13 NIV
Apart from the wicked and violent, God also hates perverse speech, pride and arrogance! If you are perverse in speech, proud and arrogant; you deceive yourself claiming God Loves you! You had better submit yourself to God wholeheartedly and be transformed into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ for whom nothing shall be impossible, only believe. Lord transform me into the model which is Jesus Christ; I want to dwell in Your courts forever in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat. He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Proverbs 28:25,26 KJV
Many do not or cannot understand that failing to submit to and put their trust in the Lord is prideful and arrogant; basically, a lack of humility! Hence, they wittingly or unwittingly stir up strife wherever they go and wonder what's going on. Efin ni iwa (behaviour and attitude are like smoke) and cannot be hidden. Yours follows you like an odour! If it's poorly or good, that's what follows you around! When you trust you heart like some advice you to do, you are foolish! But when you trust/hope in the Lord you are wise and shall be made fat and be delivered! You choose. I have made my choice forever to humble myself and walk with my God, following Him to the very end in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
You rebuke the proud - the cursed, who stray from Your commandments. Remove from me reproach and contempt, for I have kept Your testimonies. Psalm 119:21,22 NKJV
When you are proud and arrogant; you will not walk in the way of the Lord; but rather in the way of the world. It takes humility to keep away from sin/evil and walk away from strife and wickedness! You will be rewarded with reproach and contempt to accompany your behaviour and attitude! Keep the Lord's testimonies and Word though; and be free from reproach and contempt in Jesus' Name. Amen. Again, the choice is yours!!!
You are proud because you live in a rock fortress and make your home high in the mountains. "Who can ever reach us way up here?" you ask boastfully. Don't fool yourselves! Though you soar as high as eagles and build your nest among the stars, I will bring you crashing down. I, the LORD, have spoken! Obadiah 1:3,4 NLT
When arrogance and pride grips you, you begin to have lofty thoughts and ideals beyond normal, rational human limits. Basically, you begin to think and act like you are God; even in your dealings with fellow human beings. Hardly anything or anyone means anything to you at all. You think, sound and act in your prideful, arrogant and boastful manner. You fool! Do you own your own life? Do you not think for a moment that your life could end immediately? Cannot the One who Created you; whether you acknowledge Him or not, can He not bring you crashing down? Lord, Teach us to be wise and humble; that we might strive to please You and not live our lives anti-God. I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices - mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law - justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practised the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
Matthew 23:23-24 (NIVUK)
You cannot say because you give to God, His servants or work, you will be justified; when you refuse to factor in the more important issues around justice, mercy, faithfulness and love! You will regret bitterly and it will be too late! If however, you combine these with your giving; factoring all of the above, you will be very Blessed and stand yourself in good stead, made ready for the Kingdom of God! Help us to do the right and shun the wrong o Lord; that we might please You and not our own selves in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
(13) Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. (14) For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil.
Ecclesiastes 2:13-14
All said and done, what matters most before God is for humans to fear God and obey His Commandments! God is the Judge of every work and secret thing, good or bad; and He Will Judge all. So, whether you embrace love, goodness and righteousness or evil and wickedness, know that the Judge is waiting at the door! All shall be rewarded according to all they have done. Father Lord, please count us worthy to live for You; that we might not end up as castaways from Your Presence and Kingdom in Jesus' Name. Amen!!!
