DESTINY CHILD is a Gospel Music Talent Hunt designed to give talented gospel singers a platform to showcase their creativity and launch them into professional music career aimed at spreading the gospel of JESUS CHRIST. The talent hunt offers a wide range of opportunities to young talented singers to spread the gospel through music as well as carve a career niche in the Entertainment Industry.
The maiden edition (season 1) was in 2012, the first gospel praise party in West Africa and gave gospel music a landmark in Nigeria, and it attracted 7,391 participants drawn from 6 zones, Abuja, Makurdi, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Benin and Lagos. The participants went through an elimination process which left 16 contestants qualifying for the Destiny Child (DC) City, a gospel music academy. The event had 13 episodes aired on AIT every Sunday 5pm to 6pm, from 5th October to 31st December 2012. Watched across Africa, Europe, Asia and USA, Destiny Child is fast becoming a household name.
The 2nd Edition of the Talent Hunt auditions took place in Abuja, Makurdi, Owerri, Benin, Asaba, Uyo, Port-harcourt and Lagos, the judges were picked from each state for the purpose of varsity in music genre, style and language; all contestant were rated judiciously irrespective of style and language. The first time history was made a lady, Joy Ebiem Aka J’dess was crowed as the season 2 winner; she won a brand new car and record deal worth a million Naira.
Destiny Child award winning gospel singing competition returns with a loads of surprises for this season3, the talent hunt will be kicking off with much –anticipated audition process, where by every contestant across 36 states in Nigeria will register online and upload a one minute video to www.destinychild.com.ng.
Audition for season 3 will be held online and one regional audition will be held in Lagos. The online registration and auditions will kick off on 10th of November to 8th of December respectively, while registration for Lagos regional audition will end on 14th of December.
