I WAS THE LEAST QUALIFIED AMONG THOSE WHO WANTED TO MARRY MY WIFE- ADEBOYE

Pastor and Mrs Enoch Adeboye

The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said he was the least among those who were asking for the hand of his wife in marriage, reports Churchtimesnigeria.org

Adeboye made this known at the 29th anniversary of the Holy Ghost service which held at the Redemption Camp, Ogun State, Nigeria on Friday March 6.

Speaking on the topic, “in Christ Alone” Adeboye said there was need for believers to love God with the whole of their hearts and make a total commitment to him. Jesus is looking for people who will be committed to him.”

Drawing a lesson from the commitment of his wife to him he recalled, “By the time I proposed to my wife I was a student. But there were three others who wanted to marry her. There was a lawyer and some others who were better off than me.

“All I had then was my “footwagon” and the little brain God gave me. One day she came to me and said she was driving through my street and saw a beautiful storey building and she said that must be my house. I said to her “who dash monkey banana”. I said please listen to me very well I have nothing. No money. No house. So she could know the kind of person who was proposing to her.

“As a matter of fact I never took her to my house before we married. The only thing I had was the little brain God gave me. I had nothing to offer. I told her if you marry me, you will have me. Strangely she said, because you are so honest, I will marry you.”

That was how Adeboye who is one of Nigeria’s most influential pastors beat the other suitors and went ahead to marry his wife, Folu; who has been with him for 47 years.

Addressing the participants at the programme he said, “Some of you don’t know that is why after 47 years of marriage; we are still in honey moon. That is the kind of relationship God wants with you. He wants total commitment. He wants you to surrender to him absolutely.”
